Is Quixote Lying?

Chapter XXIII
According to Don Quixote he spent three wakeful days in the cave without eating and speaking with the character, Montesinos, for which the cave is named, who told Quixote the story of how he cut the heart out of his cousin, Sir Durandarte at his own request to give to Lady Belerma; and how Merlin the Wizard keeps so many souls enchanted within the cave grieving over Sir Durandarte.  In addition, Quixote tells how he also saw the enchanted Lady Dulcinea and two of the other wenches that Sancho had claimed were Dulcinea’s ladies, to which Sancho started laughing because he remembers his lie and now is sure his master is not telling the truth about what he saw in the cave.
