The Lies Sancho Tells

Chapter XXXI

Don Quixote presses Sancho about the meeting he should have had with Dulcinea when he delivered Quixote’s message to her; however, Sancho had to lie about the entire occasion because he never made it to El Toboso before he met up with Quixote’s friends.  In addition, as the group stops to eat and drink at a fountain, the servant boy, Andres, whom Quixote rescued from a beating his master was giving him, recognizes Quixote and approaches him to tell him how his master beat him further on account that his master was enraged even more so since Quixote intervened, although the knight had been convinced that he had done a good deed.
